Insel Mainau - Flower Island
About Mainau
Mainau is a small island in the very southwestern part of Germany. It is very close to the Switzerland and Austrian borders and over 1 million flowers bloom on the island each year. The main palace on the island was finished in 1746 and is surrounded by 15 meter high palm trees.

About Dachau
In 1933, the first prisoners made their way into this concentration camp and it was a functioning camp until 1945. 200,000 people were held in these camps and over 40,000 people were murdered in Dachau. Read more here.
Schloss Hohenneuffen
About Hohenneuffen
This castle was first mentioned in 1198 which means this castle is a little over 820 years old. It sits at 743 meters high on the side of a mountain on the edge of the Swabian Albs and on a clear day, you can see as far as Stuttgart. The fortress was never conquered during its time as a military installation and was also known to be a prison where people were brutally tortured and killed.
Porta Nigra, Trier
About Porta Nigra
It was built in 170 AD which roughly makes it 1,850 years old. The construction of the main gate was never finished and it was never mentioned in any documention as to why the stopped building it. It was one of 4 gates that were built throughout the Roman part of the city. Read more here!
